King of the Log -- A tradition of Barton FundraisingKing of the Log has been a fundraiser for Barton for more years then I have been involved with Barton . What ' s "' King of the Log " you ask . It ' s a game booth at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival that continues to win awards for the best patron game at the Fest . The game is a pillow fight on a log between young and old , moms and sons , dads and daughters , and yes, even sometimes between , Kings and Queens . Barton families can volunteer for one or more shifts during the 7 weekend run of the Festival from mid - August 19 th to October 1 st . Shifts are 8-2 or 1-7 on Saturday or Sunday . We have costumes of all sizes for kids to teens to adults . You can volunteer for one or as many shifts as you would like . You get into the, Fest at no charge - - work half the day and enjoy the fun of the Fest on your own the other half of the day . Travel back in time and enjoy the outdoor beauty of our fall weekends as a Renaissance peasant . Your kids will drag you back each year . We need weekend coordinators to help recruit Barton volunteers , money collectors, game referees , costume dressers , hawkers , worthless teens & peasant families . Come have your hair braided by Char . Better yet call me to sign - up to volunteer - - Char at 612/8250-8070, leave your name , address , phone and email . A very special Queen’s thank you to the Barton families who will be King of the Log coordinators this year - - Christine Baraja , Kim Harrison , and Karen Regan . If you are interested in being a coordinator please call Char .
